Field-based mobile data operations expand in Qatar

03 May

Microbus, and its partner in Middle East and the exclusive distributor in Qatar, Ideal Solutions, has been awarded a large mobile data project from the Qatar Ministry of Interior (MOI) to supply 1,000 LINX vehicle-demountable tablet PCs.

The computers will be deployed for a variety of security field operations including Police, Internal Security, Ambulance, Civil Defense and Traffic Police, helping them increase effective information with frontline officers whilst allowing them access to a host of applications in real time including mapping, computer aided despatch, remote database access and automatic vehicle location systems.

Ideal Solutions’ General Manager, Mahmoud Amer said, “We are delighted that the Qatar MOI has chosen LINX to help with their expanding field computing operations. This follows their successful installation of 300 LINX computers during 2010 which has already allowed them to maximise operational efficiency throughout the region. MOI representatives were first introduced to the technology on Microbus’ stand at BAPCO last year and were impressed with LINX’s rugged design and multi-bearer connectivity.”

The 1,000 LINX units will be supplied from Microbus over the next two years. Mr Amer added, “The MOI are keen to commend the flexibility of the LINX tablet PC to other authorities in the region and will be demonstrating units on their booth during the Map Middle East exhibition in Doha from 17th - 19th April 2011.
